BOA Stage & Screen Production is a unique, industry-led 16-19 academy, specialising in Film, TV, Online and Theatre Production.

​Located near Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, the academy opened to Year 12 students in September 2021. BOA Stage & Screen Production Academy provides an industry-led approach to developing the skills and experience of young people who are passionate about working in the technical, production, administrative and management roles associated with the stage and screen industry. We attract students from across a range of backgrounds and academic abilities who are able to demonstrate passion, enthusiasm and aptitude in their chosen pathway.

​We work in close collaboration with our creative and industry partners to design, develop and deliver specialist programmes of study. Through partnerships with leading organisations, we provide students with access to high-quality teaching and invaluable real-world experience - equipping young people with transferable skills and providing a stepping stone into work, apprenticeships or higher education.

learning support assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join the team at BOA Stage and Screen Production, a new academy for 16-19 year-olds, based near Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. The post-holder will work as part of the Learning Support Team, providing pastoral support and supporting learners with Special Educational Needs both in and outside the classroom.

Main responsibilities

  • To develop an understanding of the special educational needs of the student(s) you will be supporting.
  • To supervise and provide support to students with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Determine the need for, prepare and use specialist equipment, plans and resources to support students.
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo on students’ progress.
  • To plan and deliver with the support of key staff, specific programmes of literacy and numeracy support and monitor its impact.
  • To plan and deliver, with the support from key staff, specific pastoral programmes of support and monitor its impact.
  • Involvement in the development of Individual Education/Behavior/Support/Mentoring plans.
  • To provide clerical support as requested including filing, word processing, record keeping and telephone messages.
  • Support students in exams with appropriate access arrangements.
  • To contribute to raising standards by ensuring high expectations are set for students.
  • Co-ordinate and organise support for students attending work placements or other out of Academy activities under the guidance of the teacher.
  • Collaborate with teachers to contribute to planning lessons and activities.

Join the Governing Board at BOA Stage and Screen Production Academy!

BOA Stage and Screen Production Academy is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our governing board and help shape the future of our academy. Being a governor is a rewarding, voluntary role that involves attending three meetings per year (in person or virtually), typically held on a weekday from 3-6pm. Papers are shared in advance for review to support informed discussions.

Governors play a vital role in:

  • Shaping the academy’s direction and strategy.
  • Creating opportunities for our learners.
  • Approving initiatives proposed by senior leaders.
  • Holding the Principal and senior leaders to account.
  • Governors also have the chance to contribute to the BOA Trust Governance Committees via the Chair.

We currently have up to four vacancies and are particularly looking for individuals with experience or interest in:

  • Health and safety.
  • Marketing, promotion, or student recruitment.
  • The stage and live events industries.
  • Further education or sixth forms.
  • Active local community involvement and outreach.
  • Parent governors with a passion for education.
