UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma in Technical and Production Practice

Work with real clients on professional projects. This course is a one-year fast track into employment in Film, TV, Media and Theatre Production. It will also open up the possibility of accelerated progression with Higher Education.

UAL LEVEL 4 PRO DIPLOMA

At BOA Stage and Screen Production we place significant emphasis on work-readiness, project based learning and industrycollaboration, and our purpose-built curriculum has been designed in collaboration with major UK industry partners to ensure ourstudents are genuinely "set-ready" when they leave us.

You will work in a crew of 20 people on delivering:

  • A commercial project for a major Birmingham client
  • A £5k, festival-ready short film or stage production, working with a nationally recognised production company

Level 4 Pro Diploma is perfect if you want to work in specialist roles such as:

  • Videographer/ Camera Operator
  • Editor
  • Lighting Designer/ Technician
  • Set Designer
  • Sound Designer/Engineer
  • Stage/Floor Manager
  • Hair/make-up/SFX artist
  • Project Manager
  • Event Manager
  • Production Manager
  • Line Producer
  • Writer/Director/AD
  • Content Creator

COURSE DURATION:

  • 1-year course running from September to July.
  • Lectures and workshops are timetabled across 3 days per week.

COURSE FEES:

  • This is a free course (fully funded by the ESFA)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be aged 18 on 1st September (when the course begins)
  • You must have previously completed a level 3 course (BTEC, A'Level or equivalent) in a related subject

HOW WILL I LEARN?

  • Industry-led, outward facing production projects
  • Coursework, project and portfolio-based assessment
  • There are no formal, written exams on this course

QUALIFICATION:

  • UAL Level 4 Professional Diploma
  • Plus a range of Industry Qualifications (ScreenSkillsUK, OpenUnivserity, ABBT...etc)

WHAT WILL THIS LEAD TO?

Following successful completion of their course students may choose to transition straight in to full-time employment as a freelance in entry-level specialist roles, or they may choose to secure a higher apprenticeship or even go on to university through one of our accelerated progression agreements with organisations such as BCU.

You will be able to work across film, television, theatre, radio, social media, digital media, theatre, live events, marketing and promotion, and other related disciplines.

Upon receipt of your application, you will be invited to attend our next round of Aptitude Workshops. These practical, pathway-specific sessions are designed to assess your suitability for the course, whilst also providing the opportunity to find out more about what the course involves. 

Workshops are typically 3–4 hours long and are scheduled to take place throughout the year, with places offered following each round. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to apply early, to avoid disappointment.
