Behind The Curtain: The Making of The Wizard of Oz

Step into the magical world of The Wizard of Oz and discover the incredible work that goes into bringing such a timeless story to life on stage. Currently running at Birmingham's historic Old Rep Theatre until New Year’s Eve, this production is a testament to the talent, creativity, and dedication of the students at BOA Stage and Screen Production Academy.

From the earliest stages of planning to the final curtain call, these students have played a pivotal role in every aspect of the production. They’ve built the stunning sets that transport audiences to the magical land of Oz, crafted vibrant costumes that bring beloved characters to life, and created intricate props that add authenticity to the scenes. Behind the camera, they’ve captured the magic on film, while behind the stage, they’ve taken on responsibilities in stage management and show running, ensuring the production runs smoothly.

The students haven’t just stayed behind the scenes - they’ve also stepped into the spotlight as part of the cast ensemble, delivering heartfelt performances that resonate with audiences. To complete the experience, they mastered the technical elements of sound and lighting, bringing a professional polish to the show.

This production simply wouldn’t be possible without the passion and dedication of these young creatives. Their hard work and commitment shine through in every performance, and we couldn’t be prouder of what they’ve achieved. They truly are a credit to BOA Stage and Screen Production Academy.
